As USD 352 moves forward in designing a 21st Century learning initiative, this page only contains a one-year look at the initial equipment & software purchases for the 2007-2008 school year.

The "short view", driven by our Technology Plan (the long view), is part of our ever-changing continuum that will help drive the learning process for our children and community of learners.

Overview of focus:

Network Infrastructure: As we grow the installed base of wireless computing devices, it is imperative that we build and sustain a high-bandwidth, stable, and secure network. The exact configuration is still in process but additional wireless access points will be installed at each facility, possibly doubling what we currently have now.

GHS:
  • 21C class - This class will be our first one-to-one learning lab with Seniors. Enrollment in this course was completed during the pre-enrollment process. There are 28 seniors enrolled in this course and an additional 6 seniors requesting as an alternate. We will be ordering 34 new laptops for these students at an approximate cost of $33,000.
  • Media Center - The technology in the media center lab is severely outdated. The current proposal is to install a 10 station digital media lab at a cost of $9,000.00 and a new 20 station mobile laptop cart at approximately $22,000.00.

Grant:
  • Two new mobile laptop carts of 16 each at an approximate cost of $33,000.00

Elementary:
  • North (5-6):
    • Two additional laptop carts of 20 each will be installed for a total of 40 computers. Approximate cost for 3 Bredfort carts is $4,100.00
  • Central:
    • Adding 27 stationary classroom laptops for student use and a 16 station mobile wireless cart on the 2nd floor for a total of 43 computers.
  • West:
    • Adding 33 stationary classroom laptops for student use and a 16 station mobile wireless cart for a total of 49 computers.

Teacher Laptop Initiative
  • 2006 Teacher Laptop Initiative - for those who have completed the requirements of our Initiative, it has been past practice to award classroom teachers LCD projectors for their classrooms. The proposed order is for 12 projectors at approximately $9,600.00
  • 2007 Teacher Laptop Initiative
  • Advanced Laptop Focus Initiative
